Applications are now open for the 1325 Scholarship in Memory of Zaida Catalán 2026, a unique opportunity for early-career Palestinian peacebuilders committed to advancing the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.

Offered by the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), the scholarship provides a one-year placement with MIFTAH – The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy in Ramallah, along with professional capacity-building activities and a basic living allowance.

Named in memory of Zaida Catalán, a dedicated peace and human rights advocate, the scholarship aims to strengthen local leadership in gender equality, peacebuilding, and conflict prevention.

About the 1325 Scholarship

The scholarship is inspired by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, which emphasizes the critical role of women in conflict prevention, peace negotiations, and post-conflict reconstruction.

Through practical experience and structured learning, the program supports young professionals who are committed to advancing women’s rights and peacebuilding in Palestine.

  • Intend to continue working on these issues locally after the scholarship ends
