About the Role
The Policy Senior Lead will play a central leadership role in designing and implementing policy strategies, engaging with governments and international institutions, and shaping advocacy campaigns that drive systemic change. This position is ideal for professionals with strong experience in international policy, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement.
You will collaborate across teams and networks to ensure Business for Nature continues to amplify the voice of businesses advocating for environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Policy Engagement
- Develop and implement policy strategies aligned with global sustainability goals
- Lead engagement with governments, policymakers, and international institutions
- Represent the organization at global forums, conferences, and policy discussions
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
2. Policy Development
- Create high-quality policy briefs, reports, and advocacy materials
- Translate complex international policy frameworks into actionable insights
- Identify impactful opportunities within global processes such as UN conventions and G20 discussions
3. Political Intelligence & Insight
- Monitor global policy trends and provide strategic recommendations
- Analyze political landscapes to identify advocacy opportunities
- Anticipate risks and emerging policy developments
4. Relationship Building
- Strengthen partnerships with organizations and coalitions
- Represent Business for Nature in high-level engagements
- Support collaboration across a global network
5. Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor team members
- Oversee project delivery and team performance
- Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work culture
Qualifications and Skills
Required
- Master’s degree in political science, environmental management, economics, or related field
- Proven experience influencing policy at governmental or international levels
- Strong understanding of global policy frameworks (e.g., UN processes, WTO, G20)
- Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills
- Ability to manage projects independently and deliver results
Preferred
- Experience in sustainability, biodiversity, or climate policy
- Background working with businesses or multi-stakeholder coalitions
- Team management experience
Salary and Benefits
- Salary Range: $45,000 – $75,000 annually (depending on location and experience)
