Global advocacy organization Recourse is hiring an Advisor based in Africa to support its research, advocacy, and campaigns focused on international financial institutions and just energy transitions.
This is an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about climate justice, development finance, and sustainable energy systems to contribute to global advocacy efforts while working remotely within an international team.
Although the preferred location is Kenya, the role is open to candidates based across Africa and has a global scope.
About the Role
The Advisor will support Recourse’s strategic work influencing international financial institutions and advocating for equitable energy transition policies in the Global South.
The successful candidate will collaborate with allies and partners across multiple regions, contributing to research, campaigns, and policy engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities are expected to include:
- Supporting research on development finance and international financial institutions
- Contributing to advocacy and campaign strategies
- Engaging with partners and stakeholders across regions
- Advancing work on just energy transitions in Global South contexts
- Collaborating with remote global teams
- Undertaking occasional international travel (up to four weeks per year)
Candidate Profile
Recourse is seeking applicants with:
- Strong understanding of development finance
- Expertise in energy transitions, especially in Global South contexts
- Experience in advocacy, research, or campaigning
- Ability to work effectively in distributed international teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Location and Work Arrangement
- Primary Base: Africa
- Preferred Location: Kenya
- Work Style: Remote
- Travel Requirement: Up to four weeks annually
