The Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Officer position is a full-time, onsite national UN Volunteer assignment based in Manila, Philippines. Key Responsibilities and Duties
The role is structured across five major functional areas:
1. Capacity Development for SBC
- Facilitate learning programs and training sessions for UNICEF staff and partners
- Conduct training needs assessments and evaluate learning outcomes
- Maintain detailed documentation and reporting of capacity-building activities
2. Technical Support to Programme Sectors
- Provide strategic and operational SBC support across sectors such as health, education, and child protection
- Assist in designing, implementing, and monitoring SBC interventions
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of program materials and plans
3. SBC Systems Strengthening and Integration
- Support policy dialogues and multi-stakeholder engagement
- Contribute to integrating SBC into academic and professional learning systems
- Prepare concept notes, reports, and meeting summaries
4. Knowledge Management and Network Engagement
- Develop knowledge products such as case studies, reports, and presentations
- Support participation in conferences and workshops
- Manage and organize SBC knowledge repositories
5. Monitoring, Reporting, and Programme Learning
- Track program results and compile reports
- Analyze data to improve program effectiveness
- Document lessons learned for continuous improvement
Volunteerism and Additional Contributions
As a UN Volunteer, you are also expected to:
- Promote volunteerism and community engagement
- Participate in UNV events such as International Volunteer Day
- Contribute articles and reports on field experiences
- Support onboarding of new UN Volunteers
- Encourage the use of online volunteering platforms
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in fields such as:
- Development Communication
- Behavioral Science
- Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology
- Communication for Development or related disciplines
- Advanced degrees are an added advantage
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in:
- Social and Behavior Change
- Communication for Development
- Program management or related fields
- Experience in emergency or humanitarian settings is preferred
Languages
- Fluent in English and Filipino
