The WINGS Africa Coordinator position is a high-impact global opportunity for experienced professionals passionate about strengthening philanthropy ecosystems across Africa. This full-time consultancy role offers professionals the chance to work with a global network of over 200 organizations across more than 60 countries, shaping the future of philanthropy and social impact across Africa and beyond.

Overview of the Africa Coordinator Role

The Africa Coordinator will play a central role in advancing WINGS’ strategic priorities in the region, particularly in nurturing networks and strengthening philanthropy ecosystems.

Key Role Details

  • Position Type: Full-time consultancy (40 hours per week)
  • Location: Must be based in Africa
  • Salary Range: USD 30,000 – 40,000 annually
  • Deadline: April 17, 2026

The role sits within the Network and Ecosystems Team and reports directly to the Network and Ecosystems Director.

Core Objectives of the Role

The Africa Coordinator position is structured around three main objectives:

1. Network Growth and Engagement

The Coordinator will:

  • Serve as a primary contact for WINGS members in Africa
  • Support engagement in global and regional activities
  • Facilitate regional conversations through the Africa Working Group
  • Design and implement online and in-person events
  • Identify and onboard new members
  • Strengthen collaboration across regions

2. Strengthening Philanthropy Support Ecosystems

The role will contribute to building strong, sustainable philanthropy systems by:

  • Coordinating ecosystem strengthening initiatives
  • Identifying capacity-building needs
  • Supporting collaboration among stakeholders
  • Connecting regional and global actors

3. Advancing WINGS’ Mission in Africa

The Coordinator will support broader organizational goals by:

  • Contributing to research and knowledge production
  • Supporting communications and fundraising
  • Promoting partnerships and collaboration
  • Representing WINGS at regional and global events

Key Responsibilities

The Africa Coordinator will undertake a wide range of strategic and operational responsibilities, including:

  • Developing and implementing regional project plans
  • Coordinating Africa Working Group activities
  • Organizing webinars, meetings, and conferences
  • Preparing proposals and reports
  • Supporting fundraising initiatives
  • Identifying partnerships and collaboration opportunities
  • Producing research, reports, and knowledge resources
  • Monitoring regional trends and innovations
  • Managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
  • Maintaining project documentation
  • Representing WINGS in key forums and events

Eligibility and Requirements

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience (preferred)

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in nonprofit project or network coordination
  • Experience in philanthropy or related sectors (highly desirable)

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders
  • Experience in fundraising and proposal writing
  • Strong writing and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in digital tools and database systems
  • Global mindset and cultural awareness

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English and French (required)
  • Knowledge of Portuguese (advantage)

Additional Requirements

  • Must be based in Africa
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%
  • Understanding of African philanthropy and civil society landscape
