Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship (JJWBGSP) at IHE Delft – 2026 Intake

Full Scholarship for MSc in Water and Sustainable Development

Since 1987, the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJWBGSP) has supported over 6,000 mid-career professionals from 160 developing countries to pursue graduate degrees in development-related fields. For 2026–27, applicants admitted to the one-year MSc in Water and Sustainable Development at IHE Delft may be considered for a fully funded JJWBGSP scholarship.


About the Scholarship

The JJWBGSP provides full financial support for professionals committed to development, focusing on fields such as water, sanitation, climate resilience, and public health.
Scholarship recipients receive full tuition, a monthly stipend, travel costs, and other associated academic expenses.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered, applicants must:

1. Apply and gain academic admission to IHE Delft

Eligible tracks (MSc in Water and Sustainable Development):

  • Water, Food & Energy
  • Water Hazards, Risks & Climate
  • Water & Health
  • Water Resources & Ecosystem Health

2. Meet JJWBGSP criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a national of an eligible World Bank member country
  • Have professional development-related experience
  • Have two strong professional recommenders
  • Not be employed by the World Bank or its affiliates
  • Not currently hold dual citizenship with a high-income country

Tip: Many applicants struggle to obtain valid recommendations in time. Contact your referees early.


Key Deadlines

  • 8 March 2026 – Deadline to apply for academic admission at IHE Delft
  • 15 March 2026 – Deadline to submit your IHE Delft JJWBGSP nomination form
  • End of March 2026 – Shortlisted applicants receive link to World Bank portal
  • 30 March – 29 May 2026 – JJWBGSP online application window
  • June 2026 – World Bank announces scholarship selections

After Submission

  • IHE Delft will shortlist 30 eligible candidates per track
  • Shortlisted applicants apply directly through the World Bank’s online portal
  • Final decisions are made by the World Bank JJWBGSP Selection Committee
