ICTC Digital Youth Ambassadors Program 2026: Apply Now to Shape Canada’s Digital Future

The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) is inviting applications from young leaders across Canada to join its Digital Youth Ambassadors Program for 2026. This national opportunity is designed for passionate, forward-thinking youth who want to influence how Canada prepares young people for success in the digital economy.

ICTC is seeking 13 Digital Youth Ambassadors from diverse regions and backgrounds to serve a 12-month term, contributing their insights, experiences, and ideas to help shape ICTC’s research, programs, and policy engagement. This initiative places young people at the centre of conversations about the future of work, digital skills, and inclusive economic growth.

About ICTC

ICTC is a national non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Canada’s digital advantage in the global economy. Through research, policy development, and innovative workforce programs, ICTC works to ensure that Canada’s workforce is skilled, adaptable, and prepared for emerging opportunities.

As advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and clean technology continue to reshape industries, young Canadians face increasing pressure to adapt to a rapidly evolving job market. ICTC recognizes that youth voices are essential in designing solutions that truly meet the needs of today’s learners, job seekers, and early-career professionals.

About the Digital Youth Ambassadors Program

The Digital Youth Ambassadors Program is a unique leadership and advisory opportunity that empowers young people to directly influence national workforce initiatives. Selected Ambassadors will represent the perspectives of their peers, communities, and regions, helping ICTC better understand the realities young Canadians face when navigating education, employment, and entrepreneurship in the digital age.

Over the course of 12 months, Ambassadors will collaborate with ICTC staff and fellow youth leaders to provide strategic input on program design, learning materials, and support systems. Their insights will help ensure that ICTC’s initiatives remain relevant, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of Canada’s diverse youth population and the organizations that employ them.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

To be considered for the Digital Youth Ambassadors Program, applicants must:

  • Be 18 to 29 years old
  • Be currently living in Canada
  • Be at least three years into post-secondary studies, or have graduated within the last five years from an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution
  • Be able to commit to a 12-month term as a Digital Youth Ambassador
  • Not be a current part-time or full-time federal government employee

ICTC encourages applications from youth at different stages of their education and career journeys, including students, recent graduates, early-career professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs.

What’s in It for You?

The Digital Youth Ambassadors Program offers both professional development and meaningful impact. Selected participants will benefit from:

  • Six virtual meetings with ICTC staff over 12 months, where Ambassadors will provide input on programs, resources, and strategies supporting young people across Canada
  • An all-expenses-paid trip to Ottawa for the first in-person meeting, including participation in a networking event with employers, government stakeholders, and national decision-makers
  • A monetary honorarium to recognize the time, effort, and expertise contributed by Ambassadors
  • Exclusive invitations to ICTC’s national events focused on emerging and advanced technologies
  • The opportunity to become a leading youth voice, influencing policies, programs, and initiatives that promote an equitable and prosperous digital economy for Canada’s next generation

Who Is a Good Fit?

ICTC is not looking for a single “perfect” profile. Instead, the organization values a balanced and diverse group of Ambassadors. Ideal candidates may be studying, working in, or interested in digitally intensive fields such as:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Cybersecurity
  • Clean technology
  • Creative technology
  • Advanced manufacturing

ICTC strongly encourages applications from individuals living in urban, rural, and remote communities, as well as from equity-deserving groups, including Indigenous youth, racialized youth, newcomers, women, and gender-diverse individuals.

Most importantly, successful applicants are those who care deeply about the future of their peers and are eager to contribute ideas on how young people can enter the job market with confidence, access meaningful opportunities, and advance their careers in a changing economy.

Additional Information

All Digital Youth Ambassadors will be expected to follow a Code of Conduct aligned with ICTC’s TRUST values and ethical standards. During the first in-person meeting in Ottawa, Ambassadors will work collaboratively with ICTC staff to develop a Terms of Reference, which will guide the group’s roles, responsibilities, and ways of working throughout the year.

This initiative is supported by ICTC’s Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Digital Program, funded by the Government of Canada through the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP).
