About the Transition and Recovery Unit
The Internship Peacebuilding role supports IOM’s Transition and Recovery Unit (TRU) in South Sudan. The unit focuses on conflict-sensitive recovery, stabilisation efforts, peacebuilding activities and community resilience initiatives. This Traineeship provides an introduction to the operational, analytical and coordination tasks that guide peacebuilding programming in fragile contexts.
Interns work under the Programme Coordinator and Peacebuilding Officer, contributing to research, programme support, coordination tasks and communications.

Key Responsibilities
Interns selected for the Internship Peacebuilding programme will support:

Desk research and data compilation for conflict and stakeholder analysis

Preparation of inputs for adaptive programme planning
-
Drafting of agendas, invitations and materials for peace dialogues and inter-agency coordination
-
Logistical and administrative support for workshops and trainings
-
Drafting factsheets, infographics and success stories
-
Collecting and organising media content from field teams
-
Maintaining contact lists and activity calendars
-
Supporting programme design and partner coordination as assigned
The internship also provides exposure to donor visibility standards, communications processes and reporting mechanisms within IOM.
Required Qualifications
Candidates for the Internship Peacebuilding must:

Hold a degree in Peace and Security, International Relations, International Development, Social Sciences or related fields

Have no more than two years of relevant professional experience

Be between 20 and 36 years old
-
Demonstrate fluency in English (written and spoken)
Experience in research related to conflict-affected settings is considered an asset.

Internship Conditions
This Traineeship Peacebuilding is remote/home-based. Interns may receive a small stipend depending on experience and location. IOM provides occupational accident insurance but does not cover non-occupational medical insurance, which interns must arrange independently.
IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding misconduct and does not charge fees at any stage of the recruitment process. Trainees are expected to demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity and adherence to IOM’s ethical standards throughout the assignment. Participants will also be responsible for ensuring reliable internet connectivity and a conducive working environment to effectively carry out all assigned tasks, reporting responsibilities and coordination activities.
