Founded by the Varkey Foundation and supported by GEMS Education, the Global Teacher Prize marks ten years of elevating the voices of educators worldwide. It recognizes teachers who inspire students, innovate in the classroom, and make a lasting impact beyond school walls.
About the Global Teacher Prize
The Global Teacher Prize highlights the critical role teachers play in shaping the future. It aims to shine a spotlight on exceptional educators who have transformed the lives of learners and contributed meaningfully to their communities and the profession.
The winner of the prize will be selected by the Global Teacher Prize Academy, a distinguished panel comprising educational experts, school leaders, public officials, journalists, entrepreneurs, and scientists from around the world.

Who Can Apply?
The prize is open to currently working teachers who:

Teach students aged 5 to 18 in compulsory education

Teach children aged 4+ under a government-recognized Early Years curriculum

Teach part-time or offer online instruction

Spend at least 10 hours per week teaching

Plan to remain in the teaching profession for the next five years

Work in any type of school, in any country, subject to local laws
