The Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) is excited to announce the launch of the Climate Mobility Fellowship (CMF) 2025–2026—a transformative program designed to equip youth leaders with the tools, networks, and expertise needed to address climate mobility challenges.
This year-long fellowship will support 12 youth leaders from Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean, and the Pacific—including four from Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Fellows will gain academic training, hands-on experience, and exposure to key global policy processes, enabling them to become leaders in climate mobility governance, policy, and research.
Fellowship Overview
- Duration: 12 Months (June 2025 – May 2026)
- Format: Hybrid (In-Person & Virtual)
- Stipend: $800 per month (for 12 months)
- Additional Benefits: Travel and accommodation covered for fellowship-related training and events

Eligibility Criteria:
- Aged 18-30 years at the time of application
- Fluent in English
- Nationals of or based in Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean, or Pacific Island countries
Fellowship Structure
The CMF is structured around four key pillars to ensure a comprehensive learning experience:
1. Formal Learning: In-Residence & Virtual Training
Fellows will undergo two intensive training phases:
- In-Residence Program (16–27 June 2025): A two-week, immersive training focused on climate mobility knowledge-building and policy frameworks.
- Virtual Remote Program (25 August–5 September 2025): A two-week online program strengthening skills in advocacy, communications, project development, and action planning.
2. Hands-on Learning through GCCM Programs
Fellows will be integrated into ongoing GCCM activities related to:
- Policy research & data analysis
- Regional programming
- Strategic communication
- Public advocacy
This hands-on approach enhances their skills and employability in the climate mobility sector.
3. Participation in Global Policy Processes
CMF provides access to major global convenings, allowing fellows to engage with experts and policymakers:
- UN Oceans Conference & Berlin Climate Mobility Forum (June 2025)
- UN High-Level Week & Climate Mobility Summit (September 2025)
- COP30 (November 2025)
Fellows will contribute to high-level discussions, network with decision-makers, and shape climate mobility policies.
4. Climate Mobility Impact Project
Each fellow will design and implement a Climate Mobility Impact Project addressing a key climate mobility challenge in their community or region. Projects may:
- Contribute innovative solutions aligned with GCCM’s existing practices (e.g., policy research, youth engagement, climate finance)
- Develop new initiatives that advance climate mobility solutions
These projects serve as real-world case studies, enabling fellows to create tangible impact.

- Fellows will reconvene for a virtual closing meeting to share project outcomes and transition into the GCCM Alumni Network.
