Voyager-Obama Scholarship for Public Service(Fully-funded for Empowering Future Leaders in USA)

About the Voyager Scholarship

In an increasingly interconnected world, we need young leaders who can bridge divides and tackle society’s biggest challenges. The Voyager Scholarship for Public Service, created by President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and Brian Chesky (Co-Founder and CEO of Airbnb), is designed to cultivate these leaders. By providing financial support, travel experiences, and a robust network of mentors, the Voyager Scholarship empowers students committed to making a difference through public service.

Despite their different backgrounds, President Obama and Brian Chesky share a common belief: exposure to new places and experiences fosters understanding, empathy, and cooperation. Through this scholarship, they aim to equip the next generation with the tools and resources needed to launch impactful careers in public service.

What We’re Looking For

We seek young people from diverse backgrounds across the United States who:

  • Are passionate about helping others
  • Have experience serving in or building their communities
  • Possess an expansive vision of what’s possible through public service

The Voyager Scholarship Program is a two-year leadership development and scholarship initiative. It supports students beginning their third year of undergraduate studies, providing opportunities to refine their leadership approach, build connections across communities, and deepen their commitment to public service careers.

Scholarship Benefits

1. Up to $50,000 in Financial Aid

Voyager Scholars receive up to $25,000 per year in financial aid during their junior and senior years of college. This financial support helps reduce college debt, allowing students to focus on pursuing careers in public service.

2. Summer Voyage

Between their junior and senior years, students receive a $10,000 stipend and free Airbnb housing to design and complete a self-directed summer work-travel experience. This opportunity enables them to gain exposure to new communities and develop expertise in their chosen field.

3. 10-Year Travel Stipend

To encourage continuous learning and global engagement, Airbnb provides each graduate with a $2,000 travel credit per year for 10 years, totaling $20,000. This allows recipients to explore new places and build valuable connections throughout their public service careers.

4. Fall Summit

During their junior year, scholars may have the chance to attend an in-person leadership summit. This event provides an opportunity to network with fellow Voyagers, participate in community-building activities, and gain insights from experienced leaders in public service.

5. Network of Leaders & Mentors

Voyager Scholars gain access to an ongoing speaker series, connecting them with a global network of changemakers. After graduation, they become part of The Obama Foundation’s alumni community, where they can continue to benefit from exclusive resources and programming.
