Program Overview
The USAID Pathways Internship is a paid opportunity designed for students to gain hands-on experience in federal government careers. Interns participate in impactful projects that contribute to USAID’s mission in global development and humanitarian assistance.
Who Can Apply
- Eligibility:
- U.S. citizens enrolled in at least half-time coursework in an accredited degree program.
- Students must maintain good academic standing (minimum GPA: 2.0 for undergraduates, 3.0 for graduates).
- Educational Requirements by Grade Level:
- GS-3 Level: Completion of one year of post-high school study.
- GS-4 Level: Completion of two years of post-high school study or an associate degree.
- GS-5 Level: Completion of four years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor’s degree.
- GS-7 Level: One year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement (e.g., top third of class or GPA of 3.5+ in major courses).

- Salary Range: $35,947 – $72,703 per year (pro-rated for the internship duration).

Duties
- Conduct research and prepare program reports.
- Assist in organizing meetings, events, and program discussions.
- Support administrative and analytical tasks for USAID offices and bureaus.
- Participate in the development of strategies to communicate USAID’s mission and goals.
Requirements
- Conditions of Employment:
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Enrollment in a qualifying degree program throughout the internship.
- Minimum GPA: 2.0 for undergraduates, 3.0 for graduates.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service.
- Required Documents:
- Resume detailing work schedule, hours worked, and job responsibilities.
- Academic transcripts showing GPA and enrollment.
- Proof of current or upcoming semester enrollment.
- Veterans’ preference documentation, if applicable.
