Are you passionate about resolving conflicts and eager to make an impact within a dynamic network of conflict resolution professionals? The Association for Conflict Resolution of Greater New York (ACR-GNY) is seeking new board members! This is a fantastic opportunity for leadership, professional development, and contributing to the field of conflict resolution.

About ACR-GNY ACR-GNY is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting and strengthening alternative dispute and conflict resolution (ADR). We support various ADR practices, including restorative justice, mediation, arbitration, and more. As a volunteer-led organization with part-time staff support, we offer a rewarding environment for those passionate about conflict resolution.

  • Advocate for broader recognition and practice of conflict resolution.

Available Positions:

Do You Qualify?

  • Do you encounter conflict in your community, profession, or volunteer work?
  • Are you interested in resolving conflict, addressing its root causes, and seeking justice?

If you answered yes, you work in conflict resolution and may be a great fit for our board. We welcome diverse perspectives and backgrounds and strongly encourage nominations from women, indigenous individuals, people of color, LGBTQIA+ folks, people with disabilities, and young professionals.

Board Member Responsibilities:

  • Members are expected to attend monthly evening meetings held via video conference.
  • Membership in at least one of our committees (listed below) and attendance at monthly committee meetings.
  • Spending approximately 4-8 hours per month in addition to board meetings on ACR-GNY activities.
  • Supporting efforts to plan the Annual Conference.
  • Attending ACR-GNY’s Annual Conference and Mediation Settlement Day events.
  • Serve a complete two-year term (except for any student member, whose term is one year)

Committees: The board is organized into these five main committees to fulfill our strategic goals:

  • Membership & Outreach: Oversees member engagement and development.
  • Programming: Develops programs and events for professional development and public education.
  • Fundraising & Development: Manages fundraising and sponsorship efforts.
  • Finance & Analytics: Handles budgeting, financial management, and analytics.
  • Communications: Manages external communications and marketing strategies.

Student Ambassadors: We also offer opportunities for students in the Greater New York area to serve as Student Ambassadors, assisting with board activities and major events. Ideal candidates are enrolled in conflict resolution-related programs.
