Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, is seeking a Research Fellow in Cyber Policy & Security to join its research team in London. This position is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced researcher to contribute to an innovative and influential research program on technological risks to security.
The International Security Programme (ISP) at Chatham House conducts cutting-edge, policy-relevant research on international security and defense issues. Within this program, the Cyber Policy Portfolio (CPP) focuses on the intersection of cybersecurity and technology. Current CPP projects include the geopolitics of cyberspace, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and China’s role in cyberspace.
The ideal candidate will be capable of leading complex research projects, providing insightful thought leadership, contributing to the Journal of Cyber Policy, conducting fundraising activities, and closely collaborating with a dynamic team of researchers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative research methodologies to generate significant impact.
- Produce high-quality, policy-relevant research for publication by the institute.
- Identify new research questions and contribute to public and policy debates.
- Manage the peer review process for the Journal of Cyber Policy articles.
- Design and lead research projects aligned with the program and institute’s strategic goals.
- Establish and maintain connections with key individuals, businesses, and institutions worldwide.
Candidate Profile
Experience:
- Demonstrable expertise in cyber policy, tech policy, or topics at the nexus of security, geopolitics, and technology.
- Experience in writing policy briefs and recommendations for diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to lead ambitious research projects.
- Successful track record in fundraising and donor engagement.
Skills:
- Established researcher with strong research skills.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely for diverse audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships.
- Exceptional communicator, capable of representing Chatham House externally.
