Join Youth as Solutions: Lead Change in Your Community
Youth as Solutions is dedicated to fostering a generation of passionate young citizens who strive to make a positive impact in their schools and communities. Our self-paced service-learning program is designed for Leadership Teams, consisting of:
- At least two young people in grades 6-12
- An adult mentor from a public school, school district, government entity, or nonprofit
These teams work to address one of the following impact areas:
- Education Equity
- Community Health
- Environmental Justice
- Civics and Democracy
How Does Youth as Solutions Work?
- Application: Your Leadership Team (at least two youth in grades 6-12 + an adult mentor from a U.S.-based public school, school district, government entity, or nonprofit) applies to work in one of our impact areas.
- Kickoff Training: Once accepted, your team attends a virtual, live kickoff training and can start recruiting additional students to join and support your project.
- Service-Learning IPARD Process:
- Investigate an issue in your community
- Plan a project to address the issue
- Take Action
- Reflect with your team
- Demonstrate your learning
- Ongoing Support: Throughout the school year, your team will attend monthly live, virtual sessions with a national group of changemakers to connect, collaborate, and grow together.
What Does Youth as Solutions Include?
- All materials, templates, training, and support needed to enhance your team’s service-learning experience
- Funds ranging from $250-$1,000 to implement your project and service activities
- High-quality professional development for the adult mentor
- Youth leadership skill development
- Connection to a national network of changemakers
