The Timbuktoo HealthTech Hub is inviting visionary HealthTech entrepreneurs and innovators from across Africa to apply for its accelerator programme in Kigali, Rwanda. If you have a groundbreaking idea to transform healthcare on the continent and are committed to contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this is your chance to join a leading initiative shaping the future of HealthTech in Africa.
Why Apply?
Africa’s HealthTech sector is on the cusp of significant growth, with the digital health market expected to reach $11 billion by 2025. The Timbuktoo HealthTech Hub is designed to address critical healthcare gaps by supporting startups that are developing cutting-edge solutions in areas such as AI-driven diagnostics, locally manufactured medical devices, and biotechnology tailored to the unique needs of African communities.
The programme offers selected startups a comprehensive support package, including:
•Equity-free funding of up to $100,000 USD.
•Mentorship from industry experts and seasoned entrepreneurs.
•Networking opportunities with potential partners, collaborators, and investors.
•Membership in the pioneering cohort of the Timbuktoo HealthTech Hub.
•Access to extensive resources within the larger UN and AfCTA systems.
Key Focus Areas
Startups focused on the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:
•Disease Prevention: Early detection technologies, predictive health analytics, and lifestyle intervention.
•Community Health: Public health outreach solutions, health worker support systems, and health education platforms.
•Vaccine and Medicine Production: Novel vaccine development, local pharmaceutical manufacturing, and drug discovery platforms.
•Medical Robotics and Automation: Surgical robotics, automated diagnostics, and AI-assisted procedures.
•Genomics and Biomedical Systems: Personalized medicine, genetic testing, advanced medical imaging, and regenerative medicine.
•Patient Care Journey: Telemedicine, remote monitoring, and patient engagement solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, startups must:
•Have founders who are nationals of an African country.
•Be registered and operating within Africa.
•Have been in operation for at least one year.
•Offer a technology-based solution with a Minimum Viable Solution (MVS).
•Demonstrate corporate governance and accountability.
Programme Timeline
•Application and Selection Process: August 2024 – October 2024
•Bootcamp: November 2024 – December 2024 (Physical attendance in Kigali, Rwanda from November 7th – 17th)
•Incubation & Acceleration: January 2025 – May 2025
