Join the Refugee Advisory Board for Germany (GER-RAB) and advocate for refugee rights

About the Board:

The Refugee Advisory Board (GER-RAB) was established by the German government to ensure the representation of refugees in international forums and policy discussions. The board aims to incorporate the interests, perspectives, and knowledge of refugees into national and global refugee policies.

Role of GER-RAB:

  • 12 representatives advising the Federal Government on refugee policy
  • Enabling refugees in Germany to participate in policy development
  • Advocating for refugee interests in regional and international forums

Benefits:

  • Board members appointed for two years
  • Receive expense allowance, training, and support

Eligibility:

  • Must have refugee status, applied for asylum, or experienced displacement
  • Leadership experience in refugee-led organizations
  • Engagement in global refugee policy discussions and networks
  • Expertise in gender, education, economic integration, protection, resettlement, etc.
  • Ability to work in German and English
  • Commitment of at least five hours per month for 24 months

Application:

  • Selection committee evaluates applications based on set criteria
  • Successful candidates will be interviewed from 23 – 27 September 2024
