United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Youth Consultation: Share Your Insights on Transnational Organized Crime

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is organizing a Youth Consultation on 10th October, 2024 to gather input from young people on preventing and countering transnational organized crime. This event will precede the 12th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (COP12 UNTOC) held between 14-18 October 2024.

The Consultation will facilitate a discussion between UNODC and youth actors and youth-led/youth-focused stakeholders with community-based experience on preventing and countering transnational organized crime. The consultation will focus on topics relevant to COP12 UNTOC such as trafficking in persons, smuggling on migrants, illicit trafficking in firearms, and crimes that affect the environment. Outcomes of the consultation will be presented to Member States during COP12 UNTOC. .

Who Can Apply:

  • Individual youth with engagement and knowledge about topics related to UNODC mandates
  • Representatives from youth-led organizations and other non-profit organizations with youth focused activities
  • Representatives from educational institutions, schools and universities

Selection Criteria:

  • Age between 18-29 years at the time of Youth Consultation on 10 October 2024
  • Experience with UNODC topics or related crime issues
  • Priority for those previously engaged with UNODC or involved in community-level crime prevention
  • Other factors such as geographical balance, diverse ideological and professional backgrounds; gender, ethnic and social diversity, including disability inclusion, will also be considered in the final selection of participants.
