Youth Micro-Grants Program
What is the Youth Micro-Grants Program?
The Youth Micro-Grants Program, funded by Canada Service Corps, provides youth between the ages of 15 to 30 an opportunity to create and execute volunteer projects that benefit the community. This program is designed for individuals and groups of youth to receive micro-grants of up to $2000 for their initiatives. It is a 9-month program where participants will apply for grants, design projects, participate in skill-building workshops, consult with project advisors, and receive additional support.
Grants will be awarded based on project proposals submitted at any point during the 9-month program. However, to receive the maximum assistance and participate in workshops, it is highly recommended to submit proposals by the first deadline. Grants range from $500-$2000, awarded based on the submitted proposals.
Who Is Eligible?
Participants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years old at the time of application.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have granted refugee status in Canada.
What Is The Timeline?
- Workshops and 1-on-1 consultations: Every Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
- 1-on-1 consultations with a project advisor start on August 12, 2024.
- Total of 35 weekly workshops.
What Services Can Be Proposed?
Project proposals must fall under one of the following categories:
- Reconciliation
- Building an inclusive Canada
- Preserving the environment
- Promoting civic and democratic engagement
- Strengthening youth resilience
- Potential new themes that are youth-identified
Additionally, projects must be operated by volunteers and run for a non-profit cause.
What’s The Process?
Applications open on May 23, 2024. The Youth Micro-Grants team will review applications and award grants based on provided proposals.
Procedure:
- A Youth Micro-Grants team member will contact you following your application submission.
- If eligible, you will be selected for an interview.
- Within 5-10 business days of the interview, you will receive a final decision on your grant application.
What Is The Deadline?
The deadline to submit your application is July 30, 2024. Applications will take 5-10 business days to process.
