Overview
The Kofi Annan Foundation is looking for a Programme Officer for its Democracy and Multilateralism Programmes. This full-time, open-ended position is based in Geneva, Switzerland. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in international relations, political science, or related fields, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Key Responsibilities
Supporting Democracy and Elections:
- Assist with project development and delivery within the Democracy Programme, ensuring alignment with project designs and expectations.
- Manage day-to-day operations and oversee content development, including background papers and final reports.
- Organize meetings and events.
- Support fundraising activities by designing funding proposals and liaising with donors.
Promoting Multilateralism:
- Contribute to building awareness of strategies and policies that facilitate multilateral solutions to global challenges.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives such as op-eds, lectures, awards, and exhibitions that honor Kofi Annan’s legacy.
- Prepare speeches, talking points, and other written outputs for senior members of the Foundation.
- Conduct background research on current affairs and policy developments relevant to the Foundation’s work.

- Drafting Skills: Very good English-language drafting capabilities.

- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish effective working relationships in a multicultural environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Master’s degree or equivalent post-graduate qualification in development studies, international relations, political science, social sciences, international law, or closely related fields. Exceptional candidates with relevant experience and a first-level university degree are encouraged to apply.
- Professional Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience, with solid knowledge of global issues related to democracy and multilateralism. Experience in the multilateral system or within democracy promotion organizations is highly valued.
- Languages: Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of French is an advantage.
