Team4Tech is inviting education-focused nonprofits and NGOs operating in Africa to apply for its Experience AI Cohort, a free, structured learning programme designed to help nonprofit staff and teachers build practical knowledge and confidence in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Google DeepMind, Experience AI provides research-based educational resources for teachers and students aged 11–14. Through the three-month cohort, selected organizations will participate in live virtual sessions, self-paced learning, coaching, and peer-learning activities to develop the skills needed to introduce AI literacy to their learning communities.
About the Experience AI Cohort
The programme will run from September through early December 2026 and will support participating NGOs in understanding the foundations of AI and implementing Experience AI lessons with teachers and learners.
Participants will explore how AI is used in everyday life, how computers learn from data, and how issues such as limited datasets can contribute to bias. They will also gain practical experience training and testing machine learning models and learn strategies for identifying misinformation in an increasingly AI-driven world.
The programme will also introduce participants to AI-related career pathways, helping educators prepare young people for a future where AI and digital skills are increasingly important.
What Participants Will Learn
Through the Experience AI programme, participants will:
- Explore how artificial intelligence is used in the world today.
- Understand how computers learn from data using machine learning.
- Discover how limited datasets can contribute to bias.
- Train and test a machine learning model to address a real-world problem.
- Develop strategies for distinguishing facts from false information in the age of AI.
- Learn about careers and opportunities related to artificial intelligence.
- Build confidence in delivering practical AI learning experiences.
What Participating NGOs Will Receive
Selected organizations will have access to:
- Research-based Experience AI resources and coursework.
- Live virtual learning and peer-learning sessions.
- Self-paced learning modules.
- Coaching and facilitation from Team4Tech.
- Opportunities to strengthen staff knowledge and practical AI skills.
- An implementation stipend upon successful completion of the required course activities.
The stipend can be used to support the organization’s implementation of the learning and strategies developed through the cohort.
Who Can Apply?
The opportunity is intended for education nonprofits and NGOs operating in Africa that are interested in using Experience AI lessons to strengthen AI literacy among teachers and learners.
Participating organizations are expected to nominate 2–4 staff members who can commit approximately 15–20 total hours over three months.
Organizations should also be prepared to:
- Complete asynchronous learning activities and assignments.
- Attend six live virtual sessions focused on peer learning, sharing, and feedback.
- Complete pre- and post-cohort surveys.
- Complete a follow-up survey approximately 4–6 months after participation.
- Develop plans for implementing Experience AI within their organization and learner community.
Participants should also be comfortable completing coursework and participating in coaching sessions in English.
Who Will Benefit?
The programme is particularly relevant to organizations working with teachers and young learners aged 11–14.
By participating, NGOs can build their internal capacity to introduce young people to foundational AI concepts, responsible use of technology, machine learning, bias, misinformation, and AI-related careers.
Organizations will also have the opportunity to share their learning with additional staff and teachers. Applicants are asked to indicate how many additional educators they expect to train on Experience AI lessons within the following 6–12 months.
Expected Impact
Experience AI can help participating organizations strengthen their education programmes by giving educators practical tools and knowledge to introduce AI concepts in an accessible way.
Through the cohort, participating NGOs can develop strategies for integrating AI literacy into their existing programmes, help teachers become more confident in discussing AI with students, and give learners opportunities to understand how AI systems work rather than simply using AI tools.
The programme can therefore contribute to stronger digital skills, AI awareness, critical thinking, and career readiness among young people.
Important Dates
Application Deadline: September 4, 2026
Selection Decisions: September 16–18, 2026
