Main Purpose of the Role
Under the administrative direction of the Program Manager, the Coordinator will support Mastercard Foundation Scholars enrolled in ASU’s online graduate programs.
The role focuses heavily on:
- Virtual advising
- Student support services
- Online engagement strategies
- Leadership development
- Community-building initiatives
- Academic success support
- Program coordination and logistics
The successful candidate will also serve as a key contact person for online scholars and help improve the delivery and assessment of virtual learning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties
The Coordinator will perform a broad range of responsibilities to ensure scholars receive effective academic and community support throughout their programs.
Core Duties Include:
1. Program Planning and Coordination
- Plan and facilitate major scholar activities and signature programs.
- Coordinate orientation programs, monthly scholar meetings, and immersive summer experiences.
- Work collaboratively with the Program Manager and broader Scholars Program team.
2. Student Advising and Academic Support
- Serve as the primary contact person for online graduate scholars.
- Monitor scholar academic performance and engagement.
- Coordinate interventions and support systems with faculty, staff, and academic departments.
3. Virtual Engagement and Community Building
- Lead reflective discussions and virtual engagement activities.
- Promote critical thinking and community development among scholars.
- Foster meaningful online learning experiences and peer connections.
4. Program Logistics and Operations
- Coordinate logistics for both virtual and in-person program components.
- Manage communication between scholars, faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Support the smooth delivery of scholar services and activities.
5. Student Leadership and Social Innovation Support
- Increase scholar awareness and participation in:
- Volunteer opportunities
- Service initiatives
- Entrepreneurship programs
- Social innovation activities
6. Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate student records and program data.
- Prepare reports and assist with budget-related tracking.
- Ensure program objectives align with timelines and funding guidelines.
7. Additional Assigned Duties
- Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the program leadership.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Applicants must meet all the following requirements to be considered for the role:
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in one of the following or related fields:

Mastercard Foundation Scholars Alumni Requirement
Applicants must be alumni of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program and should have completed the scholarship at either:
- Undergraduate level, or
- Graduate level
Additional Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must:
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Be currently residing within the African continent.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not mandatory, the following qualifications and experiences will strengthen an application:
