Based in Accra, Ghana, this full-time position places you at the heart of one of Africa’s most respected research networks.
About the Role
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will oversee Afrobarometer’s regional survey operations in selected African countries. Working closely with senior leadership, including the Core Partner Project Manager and Survey Directorate, the APM ensures that all survey activities meet strict Afrobarometer protocols and timelines.
This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in project management, research coordination, and international collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
1. Survey Management
- Coordinate with National Partners (NPs) to develop survey schedules
- Review budgets and ensure cost-effectiveness
- Manage sub-contracts and authorize payments
- Review deliverables such as questionnaires, translations, and reports
- Ensure compliance with Afrobarometer survey protocols
- Provide technical support and training to partners
2. Dissemination & Communication
- Oversee dissemination of survey findings
- Promote research through workshops, conferences, and publications
- Support press releases and global result launches
3. Network & Partnership Development
- Evaluate and recruit new National Partners
- Support special research projects
- Participate in committees and strategic initiatives
4. Leadership & Strategy
- Build stakeholder relationships across Africa
- Contribute to Afrobarometer’s strategic growth
- Encourage innovation and performance excellence
5. Monitoring & Reporting
- Update monitoring and evaluation systems
- Prepare technical and financial reports
- Participate in advisory and survey unit meetings
6. Fundraising
- Support local fundraising efforts for survey activities

Required Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree (preferably in social sciences)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in survey research (NGO, public sector, or academia)
- Strong analytical, research, and statistical skills (SPSS required)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proven project management experience
- Ability to work in multicultural environments
- Willingness to travel across Africa
