About the Opportunity
The United States Refugee Advisory Board (USRAB) is a self-governing initiative designed to ensure that forcibly displaced individuals have a meaningful and equitable role in policymaking processes. The board is coordinated by Refugee Congress, in partnership with Refugee Council USA (RCUSA) and the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM) at Georgetown University.
USRAB engages with a wide range of stakeholders, including the United States Government, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), civil society organizations, and refugee-led groups. Its mission is to ensure that the perspectives, knowledge, and lived experiences of displaced people are integrated into decision-making processes that affect their lives and communities.
Selected Advisors will serve a three-year term, contributing to strategic discussions, policy engagement, and community consultations. The role is designed to create a transparent and accountable mechanism through which refugee voices can shape policies at both national and international levels.

Eligibility
USRAB is seeking applicants who meet the following criteria:
- Individuals with lived experience of forced displacement are strongly encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated professional expertise or engagement in relevant fields such as advocacy, policy, or community work
- Ability to actively participate in meetings, consultations, and project-based work
- Willingness and ability to travel within the United States and internationally for meetings and events
- Availability to commit approximately 5–15 hours per month
Applicants must also be able to participate in required training and engagements, as well as contribute meaningfully to the board’s work.
