Roosevelt Institute Graduate Humanities Internship 2026–2027: Paid Remote Opportunity for Policy, Research and Public Service Careers

The Roosevelt Institute is proud to announce the Graduate Humanities Internship, a unique paid, remote opportunity designed to bridge the gap between humanities scholarship and public service careers. Supported by the Mellon Foundation, this program provides graduate students with practical experience in policy research, grant writing, communications, and other professional skills to help humanities scholars translate their expertise into meaningful public service work.

Internship Structure

• Duration: Two semesters—Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, each 12 weeks long.
• Time Commitment: 10–16 hours/week, with flexibility to align with your academic schedule.
• Stipend: $25/hour.
• Format: Primarily remote; hybrid options available for students in the DC or NYC metro areas.

Semester 1: Foundations and Exposure

Interns will rotate through Roosevelt Institute departments, gaining experience with:

• Development
• Communications
• Government Relations
• Research

This semester introduces students to organizational operations and provides opportunities to build foundational skills in policy-related work.

Semester 2: Research and Policy Application

Interns will collaborate with Roosevelt staff to apply their humanities expertise to current policy questions. With guidance from project mentors, students will develop a capstone project, which may include:

• Policy briefs
• Grant proposals
• Policy strategy documents
• Press engagement plans

These projects will directly contribute to ongoing initiatives at the Roosevelt Institute.

• Transcript confirming current enrollment in a U.S. humanities graduate program (master’s or doctoral level)

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must affirm all the following:

1. At least 18 years old
2. Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
3. No visa sponsorship required for the internship duration
4. Graduate student in good standing in the humanities at a U.S.-based institution
5. Eligible to work part-time while enrolled in the graduate program
