GirlTREK Joy and Justice Academy Development Partner RFP 2026: Funding Opportunity for Advocacy and Training Organizations

GirlTREK has announced a Request for Proposals (RFP) for organizations interested in partnering to develop the Joy and Justice Academy, a new advocacy and organizing training initiative designed to empower Black women to address community challenges and influence policy change.

The initiative is led by GirlTREK, a national health movement focused on improving life expectancy and quality of life for Black women through community engagement, walking campaigns, and civic action.

Organizations with experience in advocacy, organizing, curriculum design, and training implementation are invited to submit proposals to help design and develop this important program.

About the Joy and Justice Academy

The Joy and Justice Academy is part of a broader strategic initiative launched by GirlTREK in 2025 to strengthen policy advocacy, civic engagement, and place-based organizing.

The program aims to equip members of the GirlTREK community with practical skills and knowledge that enable them to tackle local challenges and advocate for healthier and more equitable communities.

Through structured training and organizing support, the academy will help participants engage in policy discussions, community organizing, and grassroots advocacy.

The program aligns with GirlTREK’s broader mission and its 10-Point Plan for Joy and Justice, which focuses on improving the health, safety, and well-being of Black women.

Purpose of the RFP

GirlTREK is seeking a qualified development partner that can collaborate with the organization to design and implement the training program.

The selected partner will help create a curriculum and training framework that supports GirlTREK members in developing the skills necessary for advocacy and civic engagement.

This partnership will contribute to building stronger community leadership and advancing initiatives that improve quality of life at the local level.

Scope of Work

The selected partner organization will play a key role in shaping and implementing the Joy and Justice Academy.

Responsibilities may include:

Designing the curriculum and training modules for the academy
Supporting advocacy and community organizing training programs
Developing capacity-building strategies for participants
Implementing training and facilitating workshops
Providing guidance on effective advocacy and policy engagement

The program is expected to combine education, organizing strategies, and leadership development.
