About the RISE/E Initiative
The Ready for Inclusive Sustainable Employment and Entrepreneurship (RISE/E) initiative was developed to address the systemic barriers that prevent young people with disabilities from accessing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Globally, there are between 180 million and 220 million young people with disabilities, and nearly 80 percent live in developing countries. Many of these young individuals face significant obstacles when trying to find jobs that offer fair wages, career growth, and workplace rights.
Young women with disabilities often encounter even greater challenges due to both gender and disability-related discrimination.
The RISE/E initiative aims to break these barriers by:
-
Building employability skills
-
Supporting entrepreneurship development
-
Strengthening employer inclusion
-
Creating partnerships across labor market systems
-
Promoting disability-inclusive employment policies
