Overview

Applications are now open for the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2026, a fully funded international programme organized within the framework of the UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme.

Hosted by the Republic of Korea through the Korea Heritage Service (KHS) and the Korean National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU), the forum will take place from 13–21 July 2026 alongside the 48th Session of the World Heritage Committee.

Under the theme “World Heritage, Communities and Education: Empowering Youth as Agents of Change,” the programme will bring together 30 young professionals from around the world to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and engagement in the protection and management of natural and cultural World Heritage sites.

Forum Theme and Objectives

The 2026 forum focuses on the relationship between World Heritage, communities, and education, with the goal of empowering youth to play an active role in heritage conservation and governance.

Through exchanges with local and international experts, participants will engage in collaborative learning and develop practical perspectives on sustainable heritage management.

The forum combines academic discussions with practical, site-based learning experiences at World Heritage properties in the Republic of Korea. Activities include:

At the conclusion of the programme, participants will collectively prepare and present a Youth Declaration to the 48th Session of the World Heritage Committee.
