UCL offers a range of prestigious bursaries and scholarships aimed at supporting students—both Home and Overseas—who face financial barriers to pursuing postgraduate taught degrees. For the 2026/27 academic year, three major funding schemes are available:
(1) Julia Scott Memorial Bursary, (2) UCL Master’s Bursary, and (3) UCL Global Master’s Scholarship.
These awards aim to expand access, empower talented students from lower-income backgrounds, and support academic excellence across disciplines.
1. Julia Scott Memorial Bursary (Anthropology Department)
Overview
The Julia Scott Memorial Bursary supports UK-domiciled students pursuing postgraduate study in the Department of Anthropology at UCL. This award is designed to enable students with demonstrated financial need to access advanced anthropological training.

- Eligibility:
- UK-domiciled and eligible for Home fee status
- Must have applied for a full-time or part-time Anthropology Master’s degree at UCL for 2026/27
- Selection: Based on financial need

Awardees may hold the bursary alongside other funding. Recipients must disclose any additional awards to the UCL Student Funding Office.
2. UCL Master’s Bursary
Overview
The UCL Master’s Bursary supports Home students from lower-income households, enabling them to undertake full-time or part-time taught Master’s degrees across all UCL faculties.
Key Details
- Value: £10,000 (one year; may be split across two years for eligible multi-year programmes)
- Number of Awards: Up to 200
- Eligibility:
- UK/Ireland domiciled or Ukrainian students with Home fee status
- Household income ≤ £42,875
- Applied for a standalone Master’s degree at UCL for 2026/27
- Must not already hold a Master’s Bursary
- Selection: Based on financial need
- Deadline: 5pm BST, Thursday 25 June 2026

Funding is applied first to tuition fees, with remaining funds paid in instalments towards maintenance.
3. UCL Global Master’s Scholarship
Overview
This scholarship supports international students (Overseas fee status) from lower-income backgrounds who wish to study full-time Master’s programmes at UCL. It aims to diversify UCL’s postgraduate community and strengthen global access to advanced education.

- Value: £15,000 (one year; may be split for two-year programmes)
- Number of Awards: Up to 85
- Including 5 reserved for Indian students
- 1 reserved for a Japanese student (part of the Musubi Global Master’s Scholarship)
- Eligibility:
- Overseas fee status
- Lower-income background
- Applied for a full-time, in-person Master’s degree at UCL for 2026/27
- Selection: Financial need
- Deadline: 5pm BST, Thursday 7 May 2026

Shortlisted candidates must provide financial evidence in May. Tuition fees are paid first, with maintenance allowances in instalments.
