Role Overview

The Senior Manager of Social Media will play a pivotal role in defining how Sesame Workshop communicates across digital channels. This position oversees the full social media ecosystem—from content strategy to execution—ensuring alignment with the organization’s educational mission and brand identity.

As the leader of digital storytelling, the Senior Manager will craft platform-specific strategies, manage community engagement, and guide cross-functional collaborations to amplify campaigns. The role requires a combination of creativity, leadership, and data-driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Manager will:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy tailored to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X.

  • Oversee the full content lifecycle, including planning, creative development, posting, and community management.

  • Analyze performance metrics and translate insights into actionable improvements for reach and engagement.

  • Collaborate with Creative, PR, and Marketing teams to ensure consistent brand messaging.

  • Monitor digital trends, identify opportunities for innovation, and integrate emerging technologies when relevant.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys blending storytelling with analytics and who understands how digital platforms can advance an educational and humanitarian mission.

Qualifications

Candidates must bring:

  • At least seven years of social media experience, including two years in a managerial role.

  • A strong track record in scaling online communities and implementing high-impact digital strategies.

  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills that can adapt to diverse audiences such as parents, educators, and fans.

  • Proficiency with social media management and analytics platforms.

  • Strong project management and the ability to lead campaigns across departments.

Preferred qualifications include experience in children’s media, nonprofit communications, basic creative production skills, and familiarity with influencer partnerships. Fluency in a second language, especially Spanish, is also an advantage for engaging global audiences.

Work Model and Location

The role follows Sesame Workshop’s hybrid work policy and is based at the New York headquarters at 1900 Broadway, Manhattan. Depending on team needs, employees may be required to work onsite between two and five days per week.
