Overview
The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) offers traineeships to university graduates and students twice a year. These opportunities are designed to provide professional experience and an understanding of the EESC’s roles and activities.
Types of Traineeships
- Long-term Traineeships
- Duration: Five months
- Eligibility: University graduates
- Location: EESC offices in Brussels
- Compensation: €1,418.20 per month
- Application Periods:
- Autumn Session: Apply by 31 March
- Spring Session: Apply by 30 September
- Short-term Traineeships
- Duration: One to three months
- Eligibility: University students requiring a traineeship for their studies
- Compensation: 50% of the monthly grant for long-term trainees
- Application: No fixed deadline; applications valid for six months

Application Process
Long-term Traineeships

- Selection Process: Pre-selected candidates will be asked to submit additional documents, including a police record extract and medical certificate
Short-term Traineeships
- Application Form: Complete the online application form. Please submit an online application form.
- Required Documents: University enrollment certificate, proof of compulsory traineeship, health insurance, police record extract, and medical certificate
Important Considerations
- Communication: Only contact the EESC traineeship office via email if necessary
- Document Submission: Only submit documents when requested
- Application Validity: Short-term applications remain valid for six months
- Health and Accident Insurance: Mandatory for all trainees
Eligibility:
1. I haven’t got my diploma yet – can I apply?
To apply for a long-term traineeship, you must hold a recognised university-level degree of at least three years of studies, attested by a diploma by the closing date for applications.
2. I am 33 years old – can I apply?
Yes, there is no age limit.
To apply, please submit an online application form.
Your application will remain valid for six months. If we are in a position to offer you a traineeship during that period, we will get in touch with you and ask you to submit the following supporting documents:
- a certificate confirming attendance at a university or a higher education establishment,
- proof that such a traineeship is compulsory for the completion of your studies,
- proof of valid health insurance,
- an extract from police records, and
- a medical certificate proving that you are medically fit to carry out the traineeship.
Please note: Short-term traineeships may only start on the 1st or 16th of a given month, except July and August. There will be at least two months between the submission of an application and the start of the traineeship.

Twice a year the European Economic and Social Committee offers traineeships for a period of five months to university graduates (long-term traineeship).
In addition, the EESC can offer short, paid traineeships of one, two or three months to university students for whom such a traineeship is compulsory for the completion of their studies.(short-term traineeship).
