Eligibility Criteria for Allen and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Scholarships

To qualify for this competitive award, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be nationals of a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) and ordinarily domiciled in an LMIC.

  • Have the intention to return to an LMIC after completing their studies, contributing to national and regional health priorities.

  • Apply for one of the following full-time, on-campus master’s programmes at LSTM:

    • Master of Public Health International

    • MSc Humanitarian Studies

    • MSc Tropical and Infectious Diseases

  • Hold a conditional offer from LSTM for their chosen programme by the time the scholarship application is submitted.

This targeted eligibility framework ensures that the scholarship supports the development of future leaders and practitioners who can drive meaningful change within LMIC health systems.


Award Value

The Allen and Nesta Ferguson Scholarships are fully funded awards, covering:

  • Full tuition fees

  • Living expenses

  • Return flights

  • Visa costs

More than one scholarship is available each academic year, reflecting the Trust’s commitment to supporting global health leadership.


Application Process

To be considered, applicants must complete and submit the official scholarship application form. The application link is shared:

  • Directly via email for candidates who already hold a conditional offer, or

  • Within the Conditional Offer letter for applicants who have yet to receive an offer.

The application deadline is 9:00 AM on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Your Statement (Maximum 700 Words)

Applicants must provide a compelling written statement that demonstrates:

  1. Eligibility
    Confirmation that the applicant is both an LMIC national and ordinarily domiciled in an LMIC.

  2. Academic Goals and Research Interests
    A clear explanation of how their intended LSTM programme aligns with their academic trajectory and professional interests.
