WFP Kenya Internship Programme 2026 (Cohort 3) – Multiple Positions Across Nairobi & Field Offices

Eligibility: Kenyan nationals, recent graduates (within 6 months), residents of Kenya

The World Food Programme (WFP)—the world’s largest humanitarian organization and 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate—is now accepting applications for Cohort 3 of its 2026 Internship Programme. This six-month, full-time internship offers meaningful professional experience across multiple units in Nairobi, Kakuma, Wajir, and other Field Offices, giving young Kenyan professionals an opportunity to contribute to life-changing humanitarian and development work.

Available Internship Positions (6-month contracts)

Below is an overview of all open internship roles under the 2026 cohort.


1. Intern – National Development (Nairobi)

Support government engagement, development finance, policy analysis, and strategic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research on national policies and development priorities
  • Support meetings, briefs, background notes
  • Prepare analysis and knowledge products
  • Support communication and advocacy on national development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Political Science, Public Policy, Development, Economics, etc.
  • Excellent research and writing skills

2. Intern – Human Resources (Nairobi)

Support Learning & Development, performance management, onboarding, and workplace culture initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage training calendars, logistics, reports
  • Support onboarding and culture initiatives
  • Assist recruitment processes
  • Data entry, HRIS support, personnel file digitization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in HR, Business Management, or related fields

3. Intern – Programme (Kakuma)

Support humanitarian and development programming in Kakuma and Kalobeyei.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support design of livelihood and area-based programmes
  • Monitor project sites; consolidate field reports
  • Coordinate stakeholders and assist community engagement
  • Track and verify programme assets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Social Sciences, Agriculture, Nutrition, Economics, etc.
  • Fluency in English and local language

4. Intern – Supply Chain (Nairobi)

Support food safety, storage, distribution, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor food commodities in warehouses
  • Support inspections, documentation, and risk management
  • Assist supplier capacity building and data analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Food Science, Food Technology, Agriculture, etc.

5. Intern – Communications (Nairobi)

Support strategic storytelling, media engagement, and digital communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft human-interest stories, social media content, internal updates
  • Assist with analytics, media tracking, and content packaging
  • Maintain communication archives and assets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Communications, Journalism, or related field

6. Intern – Gender, Protection & Disability Inclusion (Nairobi)

Support gender-transformative programming, protection mainstreaming, and disability inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, documentation, coordination
  • Support programme design, advocacy, field missions
  • Prepare reports, proposals, concept notes
  • Participate in inter-agency and government meetings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Gender Studies, Sociology, Community Development, Programme Management, etc.

7. Intern – Procurement (Nairobi)

Support procurement processes, data analysis, and performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist tendering, bid analysis, and purchase requisitions
  • Produce dashboards and maintain data pipelines
  • Propose analytical improvements for procurement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Procurement or related field
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills

8. Intern – Nutrition (Nairobi)

Support nutrition programme design, fortification, PD Hearth, and acute malnutrition management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist programme roll-out, proposals, guidelines
  • Conduct field monitoring and reporting
  • Document lessons learned and donor updates

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, Social Work, etc.

9. Intern – Security (Nairobi)

Support security operations, documentation, reporting, and field mission coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist field mission planning, escort requests, training hub registration
  • Prepare security reports and newsletters
  • Support compliance dashboards and procurement follow-up

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Security Management, International Relations, Law Enforcement, or related field
  • Willingness to travel

10. Intern – Business Transformation Unit (Nairobi)

Support IT operations, digital tools, workflow automation, and data analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist service desk, connectivity monitoring, IT inventory
  • Support no-code/low-code development and user testing
  • Contribute to digitization initiatives and documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in IT, Computer Science, BIT, Business Computing, etc.

11. Intern – Partnerships (Nairobi)

Support donor mapping, partner coordination, and knowledge management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain partnership databases and mapping
  • Draft donor briefs and notes
  • Support meeting coordination and documentation
  • Update the knowledge management platform

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in International Relations, Data/Information Management, Development Studies, Political Science

12. Intern – Monitoring & Evaluation (Wajir)

Support data collection, reporting, community engagement, and evidence generation across Wajir and Mandera hubs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field visits; gather data and community feedback
  • Clean and verify monitoring data
  • Prepare monthly briefs, meeting notes, documentation
  • Support joint monitoring with government partners

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in M&E, Statistics, Data Management or related

General Requirements for All Internships

  • Kenyan nationals
  • Recent graduates (within last 6 months)
  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to WFP values
