WWF Zimbabwe is inviting applications from passionate, motivated young people for a 12-month, fully funded Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) Internship. This internship forms part of the WWF International Youth Engagement Programme, aimed at building the next generation of conservation leaders—especially young women and early-career professionals.

In 2024, WWF expanded its Youth Engagement Programme to create more entry pathways for young environmental advocates through internships, leadership development, and hands-on field experience.
About the Internship
The PMEL Internship offers practical, professional experience in conservation project monitoring, data-driven decision-making, and field engagement. Interns will support strategic planning, results-based evaluation, and learning initiatives, helping WWF Zimbabwe ensure programs are impactful, evidence-based, and community-informed.
This is a highly valuable stepping-stone for graduates seeking careers in:
- Conservation & ecology
- Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)
- Climate resilience & sustainability
- Community-based natural resource management
- Development & environmental policy
Key Responsibilities
- Support strategic planning and results-based program design
- Assist in developing and managing MEAL/PMEL tools and systems
- Track project performance and compile technical reports
- Support data collection, entry, cleaning, and basic statistical analysis
- Prepare progress updates, success stories, and lessons learned
- Participate in field monitoring visits and community engagements
- Maintain project documentation, databases, and knowledge products
- Contribute to evidence generation for adaptive management and learning
Profile & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Recent graduate in:
Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Statistics, Economics, or related fields - Strong interest in conservation and community-based environmental work
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to travel to field sites
Desired Skills
- Basic understanding of M&E concepts and data collection
- Exposure to GIS tools (QGIS/ArcGIS)
- Experience with digital data collection tools such as Kobo Toolbox, CommCare, or ODK
- Knowledge of Shona or Ndebele is an added advantage
