Become a European Commission Young Energy Ambassador(Fully-funded and open to all young European residents)

Are you passionate about advancing Europe’s clean, fair, and competitive energy transition? If you are between 18 and 35 years old, this is your opportunity to become a Young Energy Ambassador (YEA) and contribute directly to European energy policymaking.

The Young Energy Ambassadors programme, led by the European Commission, brings together young people from across Europe to strengthen youth engagement in sustainable energy policy and action.

About the Young Energy Ambassadors Programme

Launched in 2023, the Young Energy Ambassadors (YEA) programme aims to:

  • Increase the involvement of young people in European policymaking related to sustainable energy

  • Strengthen young people’s interest, leadership, and impact in the clean energy sector

  • Recognise and support young people’s contributions to Europe’s energy transition

Each year, 30 young people are selected through an open call to serve as Young Energy Ambassadors for a one-year mandate.

Who Can Apply

The programme is open to motivated young people involved in the clean energy sector in Europe, including through:

  • Academic studies or research

  • Volunteering or activism

  • Professional experience

  • Personal or community-based initiatives

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: 18–35 years

  • Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of a European Union Member State, an EEA country, or Ukraine

  • Engagement: Demonstrated interest or involvement in clean and sustainable energy activities in Europe

Programme Duration and Activities

Mandate Period

  • June 2026 – June 2027

During their mandate, Young Energy Ambassadors will participate in a range of activities, including:

  • Policy workshops and thematic webinars

  • Outreach and engagement activities at local and European levels

  • A structured mentorship scheme with energy and policy experts

  • Policy dialogues with European stakeholders

European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2026

All selected Ambassadors will attend and actively participate in European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2026 in Brussels.
Travel and accommodation costs will be covered.

Why Become a Young Energy Ambassador

Participation in the YEA programme offers:

  • Visibility through media and communication activities focused on clean energy

Previous cohorts have contributed to high-level policy discussions, including dialogues with EU leadership and the co-creation of recommendations on the future of clean energy.

Key Dates — Young Energy Ambassadors 2026

  • Launch of the call: 27 January 2026

  • Application deadline: 15 February 2026

  • Evaluation period: Mid-February to end of March 2026

  • Results announced: 21 April 2026

  • Act independently and in a personal capacity

  • Demonstrate commitment to a clean, fair, and competitive energy transition

  • Promote inclusive and evidence-based energy solutions

  • Engage respectfully with diverse communities and stakeholders
