Applications Open for Amahoro Coalition Fellowship – Cohort 4: Empowering Leaders with Lived Experience of Forced Displacement
The Amahoro Coalition has officially opened applications for the Cohort 4 Fellowship Program, supported by the Mastercard Foundation, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and other partners. This transformative 12-month virtual fellowship equips exceptional young leaders with lived experience as Forcibly Displaced Persons (FDPs) with the tools, skills, and resources needed to drive meaningful social and economic change in their communities.
About the Amahoro Fellowship Program
The Amahoro Fellowship identifies and supports young leaders who have directly experienced forced displacement and are actively creating impact through entrepreneurship, innovation, advocacy, or community-led initiatives. The program provides an enabling environment for fellows to strengthen their leadership capabilities, expand their networks, and accelerate their mission for refugee economic inclusion.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be 18–35 years old at the time of application
- Have lived experience as a forcibly displaced person (FDP)
- Own or hold a leadership role in a business or social impact initiative, including advocacy platforms
- Demonstrate commitment to refugee economic inclusion
- Show 1–2 years of progress in entrepreneurship, innovation, or social change
- Provide evidence such as business registration, media features, revenue, partnerships, awards, or impact documentation
- Exhibit resilience, creativity, and problem-solving ability
- Commit 10–15 hours weekly from August 2026 to September 2027
- Be comfortable communicating in English
- Have basic digital literacy (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or mobile-friendly tools)
What Fellows Will Gain
Selected fellows will receive:
- Mentorship and professional coaching
- Industry connections and networking opportunities
- Leadership and thought leadership development
- Business development and technical assistance
- Funding opportunities, including eligibility for up to $155,000 in blended financing
- A monthly stipend to cover data and electricity for virtual sessions
This combination of support aims to help fellows scale their ventures, amplify their leadership impact, and advance refugee economic inclusion.
Program Duration & Commitment
- August 2026 – September 2027 (12 months)
- Fellows must dedicate 10–15 hours per week
- Program includes virtual workshops, coaching sessions, and occasional in-person networking opportunities
After completion, fellows join the Amahoro Alumni Network, which offers continued access to mentorship, funding, and regional leadership opportunities.
