GETFund Postgraduate Local Scholarships 2025/2026: Applications Now Open

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has officially opened applications for the 2025/26 Postgraduate Local Scholarship Programme, offering funding support for Master’s and PhD studies within Ghana. This flagship initiative forms part of GETFund’s commitment to developing 21st-century human capital by investing in high-level professional education for Ghanaians.

Application Timeline

  • Opening date: Tuesday, 20th January 2026
  • Closing date: Friday, 20th February 2026

Applications are accepted exclusively online through the GETFund Scholarship Portal. No emailed, posted, or hand-delivered applications will be processed.


About the Scholarship Programme

Education is key to national development, and GETFund continues to strengthen Ghana’s human resource capacity through targeted investments in postgraduate education. The scholarship programme provides financial, academic, and social support, including tuition, accommodation, and learning materials for selected scholars.

The 2025/26 academic call supports local postgraduate studies—Master’s and PhD programmes—at accredited Ghanaian tertiary institutions.


Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

General Requirements

  • Be a Ghanaian citizen.
  • Have gained admission into a Master’s or PhD programme for the 2025/26 academic year.
  • Hold a first degree with at least a Second Class (for Master’s applicants).
  • Be ready to begin academic studies at the start of the academic year.
  • Not be currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree at the time of applying.
  • Not be a previous GETFund foreign scholarship beneficiary applying for the same category.

NOT Eligible

  • All PWDs in public tertiary institutions (however, PWDs may apply under the Students Loan Trust Fund Government PWD Support Initiative).

  • Admission letter (Unconditional or Financial Condition only)
  • Official fee schedule
  • Previous academic certificates
  • Transcripts
  • Research or project proposal (max. 5 pages – for Master’s/PhD applicants)

Supporting Documents

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Academic referees’ letters
  • Occupational recommendation letter
  • Employer release letter (if applicable)
  • Ghana Card
  • Passport bio-data page
  • National Service certificate (where applicable)

Special Consideration

Priority may be given to applicants studying in:

  • STEM disciplines
  • TVET programmes
  • Special needs education
  • National priority program areas
  • Tuition-free universities
  • Lecturers under GTEC
  • Persons with disabilities

Application Procedure

Step 1: Apply Online

Step 2: Create and Verify Your Profile

Register, verify your account, and log in.

Step 3: Complete the Online Form

Fill in personal and academic details and upload all required documentation.

Step 4: Review and Submit

Ensure your application is accurate and complete before submitting.

Step 5: Await Feedback

All communication—including vetting status, shortlisting, and instructions—will be sent via email and SMS.

Note: All correspondence is strictly between GETFund and the applicant. GETFund has not appointed any agents; report intermediaries to the nearest police station.
