Featured Fellowship Project
Single-Cell Genomics and Evolution
Sebé-Pedrós Lab
Research Areas:
Chromatin · Evolution · Transcription · Transposons · Proteomics · Phylogenetics · Biochemistry
Project Description
The Sebé-Pedrós Lab investigates how chromatin regulation has evolved across the eukaryotic tree of life. Building on recent advances in phylogenomics, proteomics, and innovative ChIP-seq methods, this project focuses on understanding the functional interplay between chromatin “readers” and “writers.”
The project integrates:
-
Molecular phylogenetics
-
Proteomics
-
Chromatin profiling
-
Biochemical approaches
The selected master’s student will actively contribute to:
-
Generation of novel experimental datasets
-
Computational integration and analysis of epigenomic data
The ultimate goal is to deepen our understanding of how chromatin states and regulatory components have diversified throughout evolution.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a motivated student with experience in at least one of the following areas:
-
Phylogenetics
-
Proteomics
-
Genomics
-
Biochemistry
Required Background
-
Enrolled in a Master’s programme in Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields
-
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biomedicine, or a related discipline
-
Basic molecular biology skills
-
Introductory knowledge of chromatin biology and evolution
-
Programming skills in R or other scripting languages (Python/Perl)
Desirable Skills
-
Experience with omics data generation
-
Sterile culturing techniques
-
Use of HPC clusters
A strong willingness to learn, collaborate, and engage in interdisciplinary research is essential.
