IEEE-USA Government Fellowship Program (2026–2027)
The IEEE-USA Government Fellowship Program offers a unique opportunity for qualified U.S. IEEE members to serve as policy advisors within the U.S. federal government. Each year, selected Fellows spend one year in Washington, DC, working directly with the U.S. Congress or the U.S. Department of State, helping shape public policy through science, technology, and engineering expertise.
Established in 1973, the program connects STEM professionals with policymakers to strengthen evidence-based decision-making and promote the public good.

Fellowship Tracks
Applicants may apply to one of the following fellowships:
Congressional Fellowship
Serve as a technical advisor to a U.S. Senator, Representative, or Congressional Committee on Capitol Hill.
Engineering & Diplomacy Fellowship (U.S. Department of State)
Provide STEM expertise to the U.S. State Department while contributing to foreign policy and international diplomacy.
Congressional Electric Grid Policy Fellowship (NEW)
Support congressional offices and committees working on electric grid and energy policy, leveraging specialized technical expertise.
