2026 Climate Justice Fellows (CJF) Program
The Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice, and Health INpowering Communities (CEEJH INC) is now accepting applications for the 2026 Climate Justice Fellows (CJF) Program. This intensive fellowship prepares emerging leaders to confront environmental injustices and advance health equity through community-centered, practice-based learning.

About CEEJH INC
CEEJH INC is a national leader in addressing environmental racism, structural inequality, and health inequities rooted in unjust environmental and climate systems. Through community science, education, policy engagement, storytelling, and partnerships with grassroots organizations, CEEJH works to INpower frontline and fence-line communities nationwide and globally.
About the Climate Justice Fellows Program
The Climate Justice Fellows Program is a February–October 2026 fellowship that combines:

Self-guided education in environmental and climate justice
-
Weekly virtual lectures and cohort discussions
-
Hands-on collaboration with CEEJH experts and community partners
-
A community-centered final project with real-world impact
Fellows gain practical experience in policy, advocacy, research, education, and community-led action.
Who Should Apply
The program is open to individuals 18 years and older from diverse backgrounds and locations. We encourage applications from:

Community organizers and advocates
-
Students and early-career professionals
-
Educators, health professionals, and researchers
-
Career-switchers from unrelated fields
-
Individuals with novice to intermediate knowledge of environmental justice
Advanced practitioners are welcome if interested in applied, community-based collaboration.
Citizenship or immigration status does not affect eligibility.
All program activities are conducted in English.
Fellowship Cohorts
For 2026, 25 fellows will be selected:

20 Junior Fellows
-
5 Senior Fellows (invitation-only for CEEJH alumni)
Fellows will join one of three subcohorts:
-
Mid-Atlantic: DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, WV
-
National: Other U.S. states and territories
-
Global: Outside the United States
Time Commitment & Format
-
Weekly Time Commitment: Approximately 4–10 hours
-
Self-Guided Modules: Environmental justice, climate science, policy, storytelling, and community engagement
-
Weekly Virtual Sessions:
-
One mandatory cohort-wide session
-
One optional Lunch & Learn with guest speakers
-
In-Person Requirements
Fellows are required to participate in select in-person events:

HBCU Legislative Summit: March 4–5, 2026
-
Subcohort Retreat: Spring 2026
-
Environmental Justice & Health Disparities Symposium: September 15–19, 2026
CEEJH covers travel, lodging, and meals for required in-person events for non-local fellows, using the most economical travel options available.
Fellowship Projects
Each fellow completes a final project addressing a real environmental or climate justice issue. Past projects have included:

Climate policy and legislative analysis

Community walk audits and environmental assessments
-
Stormwater and regenerative agriculture initiatives
-
Climate action scorecards
-
Educational media and podcasts
Projects are presented at the 2026 Environmental Justice & Health Disparities Symposium.
Stipend
Fellows who successfully complete the program will receive a $2,500 USD stipend.
