About Paper Airplanes
Paper Airplanes is a U.S.-registered nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to education and professional opportunities for individuals affected by conflict, displacement, and instability. The organization connects students with dedicated volunteer tutors through structured 12-week online programs delivered via Google Meet and other secure video conferencing platforms.
Driven by student demand and evolving workforce needs, Paper Airplanes currently offers three core programs:
- English Program
- Women in Tech Program
- Professional Skills Development Program
Each program is carefully designed to build human capital—strengthening health, knowledge, confidence, and employable skills in communities that are often excluded from traditional education systems.
About the Women in Tech Program
The Women in Tech Program (WiT) is a flagship initiative by Paper Airplanes that focuses on closing the gender gap in technology by equipping women with practical digital, data, and tech skills. The program combines technical instruction, mentorship, hands-on projects, and professional development to help participants grow both technically and personally.
For the Spring 2026 semester, selected students will gain access to high-quality instruction and personalized tutoring in one of the following courses:
- Python (Beginner)
- Python (Intermediate)
- Web Development (Beginner)
- Web Development (Intermediate)
- Business Analytics (Beginner)
- Business Analytics (Intermediate)
- UX Design
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
These courses are designed to meet learners at different stages, from complete beginners to those with some foundational knowledge looking to advance their skills.
Program Duration and Commitment
The Women in Tech Program runs for 12 weeks, with exact dates to be confirmed closer to the start of the semester. Due to logistical considerations, dates may change slightly.
Participants should expect to commit approximately 4–5 hours per week, which includes:
- Live online classes
- Homework and practice assignments
- A final project to demonstrate applied learning
This flexible structure allows students to balance learning with other responsibilities while still achieving meaningful outcomes.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Paper Airplanes encourages applications from motivated individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Identify as women
- Are 18 years or older
- Have intermediate to advanced English proficiency
- Show strong motivation to learn programming or tech skills (prior experience is not required)
- Can consistently attend online classes and complete assignments and the final project
- Are refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), or come from conflict-affected backgrounds

Final Acceptance Notifications: Sent via email in late January 2026
