Global Youth Video Call: World Bank Invites Young People to Share Their Story

Global Youth Video Call: World Bank Invites Young People to Share Their Story

Young people around the world now have a powerful opportunity to make their voices heard on a global stage. The World Bank Global Youth Video Call is officially open, inviting youth aged 18–30 years to submit a short, creative video that highlights how their environment has shaped who they are today.

This global open call is part of the World Bank Group’s preparations for the launch of its upcoming Human Capital Report, a flagship publication that explores how people develop skills, health, and knowledge through everyday environments such as home, community, and work.

If you are passionate about storytelling, social impact, development issues, or simply sharing your lived experience, this opportunity is designed for you.

About the Global Youth Video Call

The Global Youth Video Call focuses on one central question:

What makes us who we are?

According to the World Bank, our homes, neighborhoods, and workplaces play a critical role in shaping human capital. These are the spaces where learning begins, skills are built, and opportunities are either expanded or limited.

Rather than telling this story from an institutional perspective, the World Bank is putting young people at the center. Your voice, your experiences, and your vision for the future are what matter most.

Who Can Apply?

You are eligible to participate in the Global Youth Video Call if you:

  • Are between 18 and 30 years old
  • Have access to a phone or camera
  • Can create a video that is no longer than one (1) minute
  • Are willing to share your story publicly

There is no application fee, and participants can apply from any country in the world.

Video Themes: Choose One Environment

Participants are asked to focus their video on one of the three environments that enable human capital development:

1. Home

  • How has your family or home environment shaped your growth?
  • You may talk about early childhood care, parenting, learning experiences, or values passed down to you.

2. Neighborhood

How has your community influenced your opportunities?

This could include schools, mentors, youth programs, safe spaces, or even challenges that shaped your resilience.

3. Work

  • How has your workplace experience prepared you for the future?
  • Share insights from a job, internship, apprenticeship, volunteering, or skills training—and the realities young people face in today’s labor market.

Creativity Is Strongly Encouraged

The Global Youth Video Call is not about perfection—it is about authenticity and creativity. You can film your video using:

  • A smartphone or professional camera
  • Interview style
  • Animation or stop-motion
  • Mini-documentary format
  • Any creative storytelling approach that best conveys your message
  • Non-English videos are welcome but must include English subtitles.

Why You Should Apply

Selected videos will receive global visibility, including:

  • Feature on World Bank social media platforms
  • Publication on the Human Capital Report website
  • Screening during the global report launch in early 2026

This exposure can significantly boost your profile as a young creative, advocate, or change-maker, while also allowing your story to influence global conversations on development and opportunity.

Selection Criteria

Videos will be reviewed by a panel of World Bank Group Communications staff and judged based on:

  • Impact and clarity of message
  • Creativity and originality
  • Relevance and urgency of the topic
  • Ability to inspire, challenge, or offer fresh insights
