Director, Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships – Commonwealth Secretariat, London: Applications Open

The Commonwealth Secretariat is seeking a Director of Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships. The Secretariat is the principal intergovernmental organisation of the Commonwealth, advancing the shared goals of its 56 member states in promoting democracy, sustainable development, and respect for diversity.

Location: London, United Kingdom
Salary: £120,103 per annum + benefits

The Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships Division is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the Secretariat’s strategies to secure financial resources, in-kind support, and strategic partnerships. The Director will play a pivotal role in leading fundraising initiatives, cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors, and ensuring alignment of resources with the Secretariat’s programmes and priorities.


Key responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing fundraising and partnership strategies.

  • Managing relationships with high-contribution countries and diverse donors.

  • Overseeing proposal development, reporting, and financial monitoring.

  • Expanding and cultivating the donor base and strategic partnerships.

  • Providing technical guidance, leadership, and strategic direction within the division.

  • Ensuring effective donor engagement and compliance with financial and reporting standards.

The Director will work closely with the senior management team to strengthen the Secretariat’s resource mobilisation capabilities and support the resilience and transformation of Commonwealth member states.


Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must be citizens of a Commonwealth country and have:

  • A postgraduate degree or qualification in business administration, economics, finance, international relations, social or political science, or a related field.

  • At least 15 years of relevant professional experience in resource mobilisation and partnership development.

  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and external relationship management.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, visual, and written), and the ability to navigate political and strategic discussions diplomatically.

  • Experience structuring and analysing quantitative and financial models to inform decision-making.

  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.

  • Experience working in multicultural and international environments.
