As the world confronts climate change, energy transitions, and rising inequality, the need for responsible and future-focused governance has never been more urgent. The Hertie School Climate Action Scholarship supports students who are committed to global sustainability, renewable energy, and long-term social well-being. This fully funded award is designed for individuals determined to study how governance, markets, policies, and technology can shape a more sustainable future.

  • Available for: Master of Public Policy (MPP)

  • Eligibility: Open to all nationalities

  • Scholarships: At least 2 full scholarships, each worth €38,500

How to Apply

  1. Submit your standard MPP application
    Apply to the Hertie School’s Master of Public Policy through the regular admissions portal.

    • Priority Deadline (non-EU/EEA): 15 January

    • Priority Deadline (EU/EEA): 15 February
      Applying early is strongly recommended.

  2. Receive an admission offer
    Only admitted students can access the scholarship portal.

  3. Complete the Funding Application
    After admission, you will receive access to the funding form. You will have two weeks to submit all required materials.

  4. Submit the Climate Action Scholarship statement
    Provide a one-page personal statement describing:

    • Your interest in climate action

    • How the Hertie School’s MPP programme will help you contribute to climate and sustainability goals

Note: You may only apply to one full scholarship per year.

  1. Interview stage
    Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with a Hertie School faculty member.

Additional Opportunity: TSH Talent Foundation Changemaker Scholarship

Recipients of the Climate Action Scholarship will also be eligible for the TSH Talent Foundation Changemaker Scholarship, offering further support to outstanding students who demonstrate a commitment to social impact.
