Explore the HYGIEIA Master’s Program in Health and Wellbeing Across the Lifespan

What is Hygieia?

Named after the Greek goddess of health, Hygieia embodies the virtues of cleanliness, sanitation, and disease prevention—values that have never been more relevant in today’s health landscape. Her mythological connection to prevention rather than cure mirrors the urgent need for integrated strategies across the lifespan to enhance health and wellbeing.

The HYGIEIA Master’s Program in Health and Wellbeing Across the Lifespan aims to provide a cutting-edge education focused on preventive health strategies. This unique program centers on non-pharmacological approachessuch as nutrition, lifestyle education, and the strategic use of cosmetics, food supplements, and digital tools. It seeks to create synergies by adopting a holistic view of health. With a focus on preventing health issues rather than treating them, HYGIEIA will help shape the next generation of professionals in the burgeoning field of wellness and preventive healthcare.

The HYGIEIA Program

The HYGIEIA Master’s Program is a two-year, English-taught initiative offered by an international consortium, including Lusófona University (Lisbon, Portugal), University of Belgrade (Serbia), and the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain). The program also works closely with academic and industry stakeholders, medical societies, and healthcare providers.

This collaborative approach ensures students gain both academic knowledge and practical industry insights, preparing them for high-impact careers in the health and wellness sectors.

Meet the Stakeholders: A Networking Opportunity for Students

On November 26, HYGIEIA hosted the “Meet the Stakeholders” event, an enriching session that brought together students and members of the HYGIEIA Partners Network. This unique event fostered collaboration, allowing students to connect with professionals shaping the future of health innovation. Key figures in the event included:

  • André Rolim Baby (University of São Paulo, Brazil)
  • Mónica Sousa (Sporting Clube de Portugal, Portugal)
