About the Program
Since its inception, the Dow Jones News Fund has been dedicated to developing the next generation of journalists through immersive internship opportunities. The 2026 summer program will place successful candidates in more than 70 newsrooms nationwide, spanning areas such as business reporting, data journalism, digital media, audience engagement, and multiplatform editing.
Each internship is paid and includes a one-week pre-internship training program designed to prepare students with the practical skills and confidence needed to excel in their roles.

Training Programs
Applicants may indicate interest in one or more of the five specialized training programs that align with the type of work they will be doing during the internship:

Data Journalism – Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to uncover stories.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Summer 2026 DJNF Internship Program, students must:

Be a college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student enrolled full-time on November 5, 2025.

Include December 2025 graduates, who are still eligible.

Be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. International students already in the U.S. with valid work visas are also eligible.

U.S. students currently studying abroad are also eligible to apply.
Application Process
The application process consists of two steps:

Submit an online application by November 5, 2025.

Take the qualifying test – After submitting the application, students will receive an email from Synap to create an account. Applicants will then complete the online qualifying test, which is required for consideration.
Practice tests are available to help applicants prepare in advance.
Information and Test Prep Sessions
To assist applicants, DJNF will host two information sessions and two test preparation sessions:

Monday, September 29 at 12:00 p.m. ET – Information Session

Tuesday, September 30 at 3:00 p.m. ET – Test Prep Session

Thursday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m. ET – Information Session

Friday, October 10 at 11:00 a.m. ET – Test Prep Session
Recordings of all sessions will be made available on the Internship Overview Page for students who cannot attend live.
Additionally, students and faculty may request a virtual visit from a DJNF representative to present program details to classes, student organizations, or newsrooms.
