The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of International Affairs (IA) is now accepting applications for its highly competitive Junior Fellowship Program for the 2025–2027 cycle. This two-year program offers recent college graduates an unparalleled opportunity to shape international economic policy and gain hands-on experience at the forefront of global finance and diplomacy.

About the Junior Fellowship Program
The International Affairs Junior Fellowship is a two-year, fixed-term program. Each year, up to 30 fellows are selected to join Treasury’s Office of International Affairs, working alongside senior officials on critical issues that shape U.S. economic engagement worldwide.

What Fellows Do
Junior Fellows gain broad exposure to pressing international economic and financial policy issues. Responsibilities include:

Developing policy proposals to address global financial and economic challenges.

Analyzing international economic and financial developments, including trends that affect the U.S. economy.

Conducting detailed analytical studies to support Treasury decision-making.

Supporting bilateral and multilateral meetings for senior Treasury officials engaging with international counterparts at the:

Travel opportunities: Junior Fellows may travel abroad as part of official U.S. delegations.

Placement Areas
Fellows will work in either a regional office or a functional office:

Regional Offices: Oversee Treasury’s engagement with finance ministries and treasuries across specific global regions.

Functional Offices: Coordinate Treasury’s work with international financial institutions and develop policies on cross-cutting issues such as:

Qualifications
The Treasury seeks candidates with strong academic backgrounds and demonstrated interest in international economics and policy.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (recent or expected by 2025) in economics, international relations, public policy, finance, or a related field.

Demonstrated interest in international economic policy and public service.
-
U.S. citizenship (must provide documentation).

Ability to obtain and maintain a national security clearance.
