International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Paid Internships Open for Application(Open to several nationalities)
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) offers an enriching internship program designed for students and recent graduates seeking practical experience in an international, multicultural setting. By participating in this program, interns gain valuable hands-on experience in alignment with their academic pursuits while contributing to the Agency’s vital work in nuclear safety, science, and development.
Why Intern at the IAEA?
The IAEA internship program serves two key purposes: providing students with the chance to gain practical work experience while benefiting the Agency through the assistance of qualified, specialized interns. Interns are exposed to the dynamic environment of the IAEA and the United Nations system, enabling them to understand the global impact of nuclear technology and its peaceful applications.
Interns work alongside professionals in the field, contributing to projects and research that advance nuclear safety, sustainability, and innovation. The opportunity offers a unique experience to be part of an international organization that plays a critical role in global nuclear policy and development.
Program Details
The duration of IAEA internships typically ranges from three months to one year, providing ample time for interns to contribute meaningfully to ongoing projects. Interns are required to observe the IAEA’s rules and regulations and operate under the authority of the Director General.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age: Applicants must be at least 20 years old.
- Academic Requirements: Applicants must have completed at least three years of full-time university studies towards a first degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) or be enrolled in a graduate program.
- Post-Graduation Eligibility: Graduates may apply up to one year after receiving their bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree.
- Language Proficiency: A working knowledge of English (both oral and written) is essential. Proficiency in other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.
- Adaptability: Interns should demonstrate the ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment with strong communication skills and the capacity to work effectively in a team.
Interns are selected based on their study disciplines, which should be relevant to the Agency’s work in fields such as nuclear science, engineering, health, and policy.
Financial Support and Benefits
The IAEA offers a stipend of €1000 per month to support the living expenses of interns during their time at the Agency. This stipend is not a salary, but an allowance to assist with subsistence costs while interning full-time.
Interns will also gain exposure to a wide range of professional fields, from bio-sciences and nuclear engineering to quality assurance and public communications, depending on the internship role they choose.
How to Apply
Interested applicants must complete an online application form for specific internship opportunities on the IAEA job portal. The application process requires the submission of:
- A completed application form.
- Two signed letters of recommendation.
It is important to carefully follow the application guidelines and ensure that all mandatory information is provided, as incomplete applications will not be considered.
