Women in Energy Africa: Join the 2025 Student Energy Career Training Program

The Student Energy Career Training Program (SECT) is back with an inspiring new edition—Cohort 6: “Women in Energy Africa”. This cohort is exclusively designed for young African women aged 18 to 30 who are passionate about building careers in the energy sector and actively contributing to the continent’s clean energy transition.

With Africa poised to gain over 3.3 million green jobs by 2030, there’s never been a better time for women to lead the energy transformation. SECT, powered by Student Energy and supported by the Enel Foundation, bridges the gap by offering intensive training, mentorship, and hands-on experience in energy leadership and innovation.


What You’ll Gain

Participants will benefit from a dynamic, fully online, and English-delivered curriculum tailored to equip them with real-world skills and career growth tools, including:

  • Foundational energy education modules including Energy Systems 101, Project Management, and Design Thinking.

  • Specialized energy training via the Learning Hub.

  • Hands-on Practicum Project with an industry partner—applying skills to real-world challenges.

  • Mentorship from seasoned energy professionals.

  • Career coaching, resume building, and networking sessions.

  • Lifetime access to the Student Energy global youth network.


Program Schedule: July 2025 – February 2026

A total of 300 hours commitment over 30 weeks (approx. 10 hours/week).

Phase 1: July–August 2025

  • Attend the launch webinar and begin your journey through 6 core modules.

  • Engage in team formation and introductory coaching sessions.

Phase 2: August–December 2025

  • Collaborate with your team and project partner on a Practicum Project.

  • Participate in two weekly meetings and complete your assigned project deliverables.

Phase 3: January–February 2026

  • Dive into career development: job search strategy, interview skills, personal branding, and networking.

  • Receive tailored one-on-one career coaching and attend professional development webinars.


Who Can Apply?

You are eligible if you:

  • Identify as a woman aged 18–30.

  • Are a national and current resident of an African country.

  • Are fluent in English.

  • Have completed or are enrolled in a post-secondary program (any discipline).

  • Have reliable internet access.


Application Deadline: June 25, 2025 (Pacific Time)

To apply, you’ll need:

  1. Responses to two essay questions (max 250 words each).

  2. A 2–3 minute unlisted YouTube video answering career-focused prompts.

  3. Your updated CV (2 pages max).

  4. Enthusiasm and commitment to fully participate in all stages of the program!

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, but only one application per candidate is accepted.
