The Peace Corps is recruiting motivated individuals to serve as Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Teachers in Benin. This rewarding opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education, youth empowerment, and global service. TEFL Teachers will teach English in middle and high schools in rural communities, co-teaching alongside local Beninese teachers, while contributing to educational development and cross-cultural exchange.
About the Program
The TEFL program in Benin focuses on improving students’ English proficiency and enhancing teaching capacity in rural schools. Volunteers collaborate with local teachers to plan and deliver English lessons, create inclusive learning environments, and promote student-centered teaching practices. Volunteers will also engage in after-school activities such as English clubs, spelling bees, and leadership programs.
This project offers a unique cultural immersion experience, combining language learning, community engagement, and personal growth. TEFL Volunteers in Benin also benefit from the Peace Corps’ TEFL Certificate Program—a globally recognized credential involving over 120 hours of training and two years of supervised teaching.
